Pedal It.

The Mississippi River Challenge takes you on an amazing journey through the heart of the Twin Cities. The pedaling portion of the Challenge will take you along this beautiful river as it winds through Minneapolis and Saint Paul, with many of the same scenic and historic views that the paddlers see. In 2008, cyclists (“pedalers”) can pedal a Saturday-only route, though we are working on an option to pedal Saturday and then paddle on Sunday. Route details will be posted when finalized.

At the historic Fort Snelling evening gathering (and overnight camp if you’re going to stay the night), you will enjoy a hearty meal provided in part by Thousand Hills Cattle Company (hearty vegetarian options available as well) and celebrate with live music, historic reenactment and revelry. For those spending the night, the sunrise over the bluffs can be stupendous!

The cycling (pedaling) option is fully supported with sag service, shuttles and all other amenities associated with the paddling option. Snacks and beverages, rest stop amenities, interpretive information, all meals and admission to Fort Snelling are included for your $50 registration fee. ($45 for FMR members, $30 for children 12 and under) and your agreement to raise $200 or more in pledges ($50 or more for participants under 16).

Register before June 1st and receive a $10 gift certificate to Hoigaard’s — that you can use to pick up some great gear for your trip! Register early as space is limited and the registration fee will increase to $60 on July 1st ($55 for FMR members, $40 for children 12 and under).

Experience the Mississippi River’s scenic, historic and recreational splendor — Pedal the Mississippi River Challenge!
